Sun conjunct Mercury

Mercury never travels more than twenty eight degrees from the Sun, so this conjunction is the most common aspect between them. Identity and mind are welded: these people think in the first person and speak as themselves, with no gap between opinion and self. It gives fluent, quick expression and a strong sense of what they mean. The cost is objectivity. A view held this close to the center is hard to revise, and disagreement feels personal rather than technical. Traditional astrology calls the tight version combust, and reads it as a mind slightly dazzled by its own light.
