Lunation Phase

The lunation phase is the angular distance between the Sun and Moon at the moment of birth, placed along the same eight-phase cycle (New, Crescent, First Quarter, Gibbous, Full, Disseminating, Last Quarter, Balsamic) the visible Moon moves through every month. Rather than describing a single trait, it marks a starting point in that emotional cycle: a chart born under a New phase begins from instinct and initiation, one born under a Full phase begins from culmination and visibility, and so on around the wheel.
