Negative or Receptive Polarity

The earth and water signs, Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces, make up the other polarity. Traditional texts call it feminine or negative, which reads poorly in current English, since negative suggests fault and feminine suggests gender. Most modern astrologers say receptive or magnetic instead. The point of the term is direction: this half tends to draw inward, take information in before responding, and build from what is already present. A chart weighted toward one polarity leans that way in style, and that is a description of approach rather than a verdict on the person.
