Transits Compared with Progressions
Transits Compared with Progressions
Transits are real sky positions arriving from outside; progressions are a symbolic development.
Transits are the actual positions of the planets on a given date, measured against the natal chart. Progressions are a symbolic movement of the natal chart itself and have no observable counterpart in the sky. The two are used for different questions: transits describe conditions arriving from outside and are precise about timing, while progressions describe internal development and are vague about dates but clear about phases. Most practitioners read them together and treat a period as significant when both point to the same part of the chart. Neither predicts an outcome.
