Expansion in tension with identity, producing overreach and, with time, an educated sense of scale.
Identity and expansion pull against each other, which shows up as overreach followed by correction. These people promise more than the week holds, take positions larger than the evidence supports, and then have to climb back down in public. Belief and self can be hard to separate, so a challenged opinion is felt as a challenged person. The useful side is that repeated overreach teaches measurement. Charts carrying this aspect often produce adults with excellent judgment about scale, arrived at the slow way. The version that never learns stays perpetually just short of a plan that was always too big.
