The Imum Coeli

The Imum Coeli, usually written IC, is the point opposite the Midheaven at the bottom of the chart, and it marks the cusp of the fourth house. It describes roots: home, family background, the private base a person operates from, and what has to be in place for a person to feel settled. Read as a pair, the IC and the Midheaven show the balance between public role and private foundation. The IC comes out of the same calculation as the Midheaven, so an accurate birth time is required here as well.
