The Midheaven

The Midheaven, or medium coeli, is the point where the ecliptic crosses the meridian above the place of birth, and in most house systems it marks the cusp of the tenth house. It describes public standing, vocation, reputation and the direction of a career, and the ruler of its sign is read for further detail about the working life. The Midheaven is not always ninety degrees from the Ascendant, since that distance varies with latitude and season. An accurate birth time is required, as it moves about one degree every four minutes.
