Solar Arc Directions

Solar Arc Directions

Every point advanced by the progressed Sun's arc, close to one degree for each year of life.

Solar arc directions move every point in the chart forward by the same amount, the distance the progressed Sun has traveled, which is close to one degree a year. Because everything moves together, aspects to natal positions arrive on a predictable schedule and a solar arc contact stays exact for roughly a year. The technique is blunter than secondary progressions and easier to read, since the slow natal planets, which barely move by progression, are put into play. It works best for identifying which years carry weight, and poorly for saying what they hold.
