What a local space line shows
Local space astrology takes the azimuth, the compass bearing measured from true north, that each planet stood at when viewed from your exact birth location at your exact birth moment. Draw that bearing as a straight line outward from your birthplace across a map, and you have a local space chart: one line per planet, each pointing in the direction that planet held in the sky at your first breath.
Unlike astrocartography, which treats a planet's angularity as a property of longitude alone, a local space line is anchored to a single point, the place you were born, and radiates outward from there in one specific compass direction.
Reading the direction
Following a planet's local space line, whether by moving there or simply orienting a room, desk, or daily route in that compass direction, is thought to lean your surroundings toward that planet's themes. A line running northeast toward Jupiter carries a different flavor than one running southwest toward Saturn, even though both originate from the same birthplace.
The line itself doesn't end. In principle it continues around the globe, but the practical convention is to work with wherever the line first crosses land or a place you could realistically live or visit.
Local space versus astrocartography
Both techniques come from the same 1970s wave of locational astrology, but they measure different things. Astrocartography lines depend only on your birth moment and run the same regardless of where you were born; local space lines depend on your birth location and change completely if that location changes, even with an identical birth moment.
Astrocartography tells you which places put a planet on an angle. Local space tells you which direction from where you started to travel for that planet's influence, which makes it suited to a different kind of question: not where, but which way.

A local space line is calculated from your exact birth location as well as your birth moment, so both need to be as accurate as you can provide. An estimated birth time shifts the angles this calculator uses to judge what is near a pin, and an approximate birthplace shifts every line's starting point and direction outward from there.
Where local space astrology comes from
Local space grew out of the same locational-astrology movement that produced astrocartography in the 1970s, applying an older idea, the compass direction to a planet from a fixed point, to the scale of a world map rather than a single chart wheel.
