Feng Shui Overview

Feng shui, literally "wind-water", is the practice of structuring your physical environment to balance the flow of energy, or Qi. Your Kua Number, calculated from birth year and gender, and your Flying Stars, calculated from your home's construction period and orientation, determine your personally favorable directions and how each part of a space is currently charged.

Feng Shui History

Feng shui is rooted in Daoist philosophy, built on the premise that external surroundings and internal reality directly reflect one another, a space in Sheng Qi, flowing and beneficial energy, supports the person living in it, while a space in Sha Qi, stagnant or aggressive energy, works against them. Classical practice centered on orienting buildings, graves, and cities to harmonize with the surrounding landscape. The personal Kua Number method, and later the more mathematically precise Flying Star (Xuan Kong) system, emerged as ways to individualize that guidance, moving from reading the land itself to calculating exactly how a specific person's energy interacts with a specific structure at a specific point in time.
