Feng Shui How It Works
Kua Number
A number from 1 to 9, calculated from your birth year and gender, that places you in one of two directional groups and anchors every other personal recommendation in your chart.
East Group
One of two Kua-number groupings, your favorable directions cluster around east, southeast, south, and north.
West Group
The other Kua-number grouping, your favorable directions cluster around west, northwest, southwest, and northeast.
Flying Star
Beyond personal direction, Flying Star (Xuan Kong) Feng Shui maps a number 1 through 9 onto each compass sector of a home, based on its construction period and facing direction. Each sector carries a base, mountain, and water star, read together, they describe what kind of energy is active in that part of the space right now, and which areas are worth activating or working around.
