North Node in the 1st house
The north node in the 1st house points growth toward acting for oneself rather than through others.
The north node is not a planet. It is the point where the Moon's path crosses the ecliptic going north, and it is read as a direction of growth: the unfamiliar territory worth moving into. In the 1st house, the self is the assignment. These people are usually more practiced at accommodating others than at acting on their own account, and what is asked for is initiative: stating a preference, going first, being someone with a direction rather than a good partner to someone else's. Learning to disappoint people is part of it.
