Numerology
Life Path 1
Definition
The Life Path number 1: one of the nine core single-digit Life Path themes, describing independence, initiative, and a pioneering approach.
What it means
Life Path 1 is generally read as the number of the self-starter: comfortable leading rather than following, and inclined to originate a path rather than join one already laid out. It is fixed at birth and does not change from year to year, unlike the Personal Year cycle.
How it shows up in a chart
A Life Path 1 is generally read as favoring situations that call for initiative and independent decision-making, and as more energized by starting something new than by maintaining something already established.
A worked example
10 JANUARY 1970 A birth date of 10 January 1970 reduces to Life Path 1: the month (1) and day (1, from 10) each reduce on their own, the year 1970 reduces to 8 (1+9+7+0=17, 1+7=8), and the three results (1, 1, 8) sum to 10, which reduces once more to 1.
