Human Design Types
Human Design defines five distinct energy types, each with its own strategy for decision-making and engaging with the world. Your type, determined by your chart, shapes how your energy naturally flows. A reading returns a type, one of Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector or Reflector, along with a strategy for engaging with the world and an authority naming where reliable decisions come from. The 64 gates that make up the bodygraph are the same archetypes Gene Keys contemplates, so a single birth calculation supports both systems.
Manifestors are built to initiate and create waves of impact in the world — the only type designed to act without waiting for external permission or a response from someone else first. Strategy: inform others of an intention before acting, which creates space for alignment rather than resistance. Authority varies by person, but often shows up as Ego (trusting a clear sense of "I want") or Self-Projected (trusting a truth spoken aloud).
Generators are built to respond to opportunity and sustain energy over time — the most common type, and the backbone of sustainable work in the world. Strategy: wait for something worth responding to rather than initiating cold, and honor the gut feeling when something lights up as a genuine "yes." Authority is Sacral for the large majority — the body knows before the mind does, so the immediate "uh-huh" or "uh-uh" response is the one to trust.
Manifesting Generators combine a Generator's sustainable response energy with a Manifestor-like drive to move fast and skip steps. Strategy: wait to respond, then inform others of the next move, since the gut response still leads even when action follows before everyone else has caught up. Authority is Sacral for the large majority — the instinctive yes or no is the signal to trust before moving forward.
Projectors are built to see, recognize, and guide others toward their potential — not built for the sustained output of a Generator, but for precise insight. Strategy: wait for an invitation or recognition of the gift being offered, letting others initiate before sharing a perspective. Authority is commonly Mental (processing through discussion) or Self-Projected (speaking a perspective aloud to reach clarity).
Reflectors are built to sample and reflect the health of their community — the rarest type, with no center consistently defined at all. Strategy: wait a full lunar cycle, about 28 days, before major decisions, sampling the energy around them and reflecting back what is actually there. Authority is Lunar by definition — wisdom emerges slowly, so sleeping on a choice for a full lunar month before committing is how clarity actually arrives.
